What is Flux?
As the compounding industry becomes more prevalent, so to do the regulations surrounding the compounding of medicines. It can be difficult to keep on top of these changes as a busy pharmacist. Flux Pharma Services has designed Quality Assurance modules that give a practical experience in QA, allowing our members to implement these changes in their own business.
Why is it called Flux?
When something is in flux, it is in a state of continuous change. The compounding pharmacy industry is described almost perfectly in this way – industry regulations, standards and practices are not the same as they were 5 years ago, and will not be the same in another 5 years. Compounding is an industry in Flux, and we are here to help you navigate those changes.

I am a pharmacy student, can I become a Flux member?
Yes. You can send a request for a student membership. You will need to provide a copy of a current student ID card.

How do I access discounts from Flux partners?

I am a pharmacist interested in learning more about quality compounding but I don’t own a pharmacy, can I still become a Flux member?
Absolutely – all pharmacists are encouraged to join Flux to maintain a level of education about Quality Assurance in Australian compounding conditions. Our education program is delivered to you, and is of particular interest to all pharmacists either currently in compounding practice, or in any other form of practice.
Do I have to be a pharmacist to complete the learning activities?
While we have created Flux Pharma for training compounding pharmacists, the content translates across the board for pharmacists & technicians alike. Quality is a universal concept that extends throughout your entire practice so needs to be understood by all. Of course, only pharmacists can be registered within our program for CPD points.
What if I don’t finish the self-guided learning in the month it is released?
Although the self-guided material is released monthly, the learning activities and resources will remain on your profile as long as you are a Flux member. This means that you can refer back to the materials as needed and take your time to fully understand the concepts. If you are unable to attend the practice improvement session, we recommend that you email us at info@fluxpharma.com.au and we can arrange to include you in the practice session for the appropriate module with the next cohort.
Can I get assistance with the self-guided Quality Assurance Modules?
Yes! On the third Wednesday of each month, we will run a practice improvement session during which we can address any outstanding questions you might have. You can either raise a hand during these sessions or submit your question to info@fluxpharma.com.au prior to the session and we can address it with the group. During this session, we will apply the concepts you learnt that month to your practice and can work collectively to solve issues you might have. Participation in these sessions is eligible for group III CPD points.
Are the activities eligible for CPD points?
All our self-guided learning activities and webinars are eligible for group II CPD points on completion of the associated knowledge test. We are applying for CPD accreditation for our core units in quality assurance to make it easier for our members to identify opportunities that best address their own continuing professional development plan.
On the third Wednesday of each month, we will also run a practice improvement session to guide you through applying the principles you have learned to your practice. The time spent on this is eligible for group III CPD points.
By completing all self-guided learning activities and participating in the practice improvement sessions, Flux members can satisfy their annual CPD requirements.
Is there any physical contact hours associated with the learning activities?
All activities by Flux Pharma are conducted online! This means a combination of online self-guided activities, pre-recorded and live webinars and virtual workshop sessions. All live sessions will be run on Sydney, NSW time but we always consider our interstate members when scheduling.
